Terms and Conditions – Science Summit

1. Purpose and Scope

The Science Summit is an independent, international platform organized to promote dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among scientists, policymakers, industry leaders, civil society, and the public. The Summit supports the contribution of science, technology, and innovation (STI) to advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the implementation of the Pact for the Future, and the multilateral alignment of science policies globally.

The Science Summit in New York City (Science Summit NYC) is designed to provide an open, inclusive forum for discussion, engagement, and the sharing of ideas. It is not a decision-making body, nor does it act as a formal representative of the United Nations or any governmental or intergovernmental organization.

2. Independence

  • The Science Summit is not a United Nations body, nor is it affiliated with or endorsed by the United Nations or its agencies.
  • The Summit provides a neutral convening space to discuss science’s role in global challenges and to foster multistakeholder engagement.

3. Participation

  • Participation is open to individuals and organizations committed to constructive dialogue and the advancement of science for society.

  • By registering, participants agree to engage respectfully, uphold the principles of inclusivity, and refrain from conduct that could disrupt the integrity of the Summit.

  • Organizers reserve the right to deny or revoke participation at their discretion in cases of inappropriate conduct.

4. Content and Contributions

  • The views expressed by speakers, panelists, moderators, and participants are their own and do not necessarily reflect those of the Science Summit organizers.

  • Session convenors are responsible for the accuracy of their content, compliance with intellectual property rights, and obtaining consent for any materials shared.

  • Recordings, transcripts, and related materials may be used by the organizers for documentation, reporting, and promotional purposes.

5. Intellectual Property

  • All materials presented during the Summit remain the intellectual property of their respective authors or organizations, unless otherwise indicated.

  • By participating, contributors grant the Summit organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and disseminate session content (including video, audio, and written materials) for non-commercial, educational, and outreach purposes.

6. Liability

  • The Science Summit organizers make every effort to ensure a high-quality event but do not accept liability for errors, omissions, or disruptions beyond their control.

  • The Summit does not assume responsibility for travel, accommodation, or other expenses incurred by participants.

  • Insurance coverage for participants, speakers, or exhibitors is the responsibility of the individuals and organizations concerned.

7. Privacy and Data Protection

  • Personal data collected through registration or participation will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

  • Information may be shared with session convenors or partner organizations strictly for organizational purposes related to the Summit.

  • Participants may opt out of communications at any time.

8. Amendments

The organizers reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions to reflect changes in law, event organization, or unforeseen circumstances. Updates will be communicated to registered participants.
